A record of this caliber takes some other type of warning/announcement. Words couldn't really be hyperbolic here like they are in so many cases in trying to describe a record... This 7" is simply great.
Original, traditional, with the right spiritual mindset, with right the production, IT IS ALL THERE.
Wulkanaz proved with their demo that they were able to create and record some other worldly, grimy, strange black metal and established themselves as one of the truly unique voices in the underground.
On this 7", they return, more assured of themselves, more muscular, more eager to get straight to the point. It's still Wulkanaz, but worked up, intensified, and more full of adrenaline. Simply a flawless mixture of mid-era Lugubrum deformed type of style and more straight forward and rocking type of Swedish black metal (the country from which they hail). The alien sounding folk-intros give some hint to an influence outside of black metal, but really its impossible to place and seems to exist only within the realm of Wulkanaz. The A-side is paralyzing blast and the b-side is a more frantic stomping, two short songs mastered loud at 45rpm, a record in perfect balance.
Note that this group features also half of the equally strange and
idiosyncratic group TOMHET, who also do a great job of displaying the inspired and violent mind of Wulkanaz.
